Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her Pho EP. It was here that she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole had her sing her songs to the Dreamville Team later in the year because he was hoping for Rihanna to collaborate alongside her on some of the songs. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is one of the songs was written by her and Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 21, 2016, she dropped her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act on behalf of J. Cole on his track Change in 2017, and was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The singer also performed on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. A music video later released in September. In November, she dropped the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, on November 13, she released two additional singles entitled One and Pdigree. One as well as Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019 for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared alongside Cole in her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The track was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been viewed over 3 million times in the first seven days. In December of 2018, she was part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
